Reiki Master Symbols and Their Meanings

Author: Val Felcetto

Reiki symbols and their meanings are sacred, and enhance the flow of life energy. These symbols open doors to higher levels of awareness, spirituality, and manifestation.

Reiki symbols are derived from the mother of all languages – Sanskrit. The Vedas, which are the oldest writings known to man, say that Sanskrit is the language of the spirit world.

Prior to Reiki self attunement, the symbols are shown to the student and prior to being attuned, and an impression takes place that connects the image shown to the metaphysical energies the symbol represents. Next, the Reiki attunement actually empowers the symbols so that they fulfill their intended purpose. This process has been created by the Divine and those who have been attuned.

During a Reiki session, it is advised to meditate on these symbols and receive guidance on how to use them directly.

Some Reiki symbols are as follows:

1. Cho Ku Rei: This symbol represents power. When this symbol is used during a Reiki treatment, energy flow is increased. This symbol is to be used during a healing session, and promotes healing in the body.

2. Sei He Ki: This symbol is known for emotional healing, clearing, and balancing. Sei He Ki works with physical and mental disease, relationship problems, fear, depression, anger, to enhance ones memory, and to clear a room from negativity.

3. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen: This symbol transmits Reiki energy and is beneficial to Reiki distance healing.

4. Dai Ko Myo: This is the master symbol. It signifies wisdom and intelligence and is the Light of Buddah. This symbol is used to heal and awaken the soul.

Although there are a lot more different kinds of Reiki Master symbols, these 4 are essential to the student prior to their Reiki self attunement. When used correctly, these symbols intensify Reiki treatments and allow the person to have a much more invigorating Reiki session, whether they are performing on themselves or on others.

How to choose the Reiki Master for you

Author: Mark Rogers

Reiki is a Japanese word, it has two syllables:-

Rei – “God-guided and Universal”
Ki – “Life Force Energy”

Reiki is a way of channelling this energy to address mental and emotional problems as well as physical disorders. It is a holistic system for balancing, healing and harmonising all aspects of a person and it can be used to encourage personal and spiritual awareness and growth.

It is a safe, gentle non-intrusive hands-on healing technique which uses spiritual energy to treat physical, mental and emotional aliments without using pressure manipulation and massage.

Reiki only does good. It goes where it is needed. The client will only take the amount of energy that they need at that time. Reiki is not pushed by the therapist. It is pulled by the client. The client does not take the therapist’s energy, only the pure clean Reiki energy. Therefore therapist and client do not take on each other’s karma.

When looking for a Reiki master, you will be drawn to the Reiki Master who is right for you at that time. It will be a person who makes you feel comfortable and who’s teaching and guidance resonate with how you feel and what you need. Ring them up, have a chat, ask what is included in their course. Ask them to send you a course profile. If possible go and have a Reiki treatment with them.

That said, a First Degree Reiki course should include the following:-

1 An explanation of What is Reiki and what it can be used for.
2 A brief History of Reiki
3 An explanation of the Three levels of Reiki
4 The tutor’s Reiki Lineage
5 A description of a person’s energy body and how Chakras work
6 An explanation of the Attunement process
7 The first degree Attunement
8 An explanation of the 21 day cleansing
9 An explanation of Reiki Intent
10 The Hand positions used a for Self Treatment
11 A guided self treatment
12 Reiki Ideals and how they can be used to bring calmness and harmony to your life
13 How to use Reiki for Protection of yourself, others, property etc
14 How to perform self cleansing
13 How Treating Other people, consulation forms, contra indications, hand positions
14 A guided treatment of an other person
15 How to do a grounding meditation

It is a very practical subject and thus should content plenty of guided demonstations.
Mark is a holistic therapist and teacher at Harmony House, a VTCT and CMA accredited training centre, based in Glossop Derbyshire and within easy reach of Manchester, Stockport, Macclesfield, Huddersfield, Sheffield, Barnesly and Buxton

Sleep Better with Reiki

Author: Andy Rogers

Suffering from insomnia? Can’t get enough sleep and keep tossing and turning at night? It’s probably because of excessive stress both at home and at the workplace. So what do you do? Pop in a sleeping pill or drink a glass of hot milk? Now try Reiki, the hands on healing technique to cure your sleep problems.

Reiki has a number of exercises that can help you regain your energies and of course the lost sleep too. If you are doing or have done the First degree in Reiki then you will be familiar with this exercise. However, even if you are a newcomer to Reiki you can go ahead and do it yourself! TO REPLENISH YOUR ENERGY

All that you need is a few minutes at any time of the day. Any place will do, so charge your energy with this new refreshment.

STEP 1

You can do this sitting or lying down. Just find a comfortable place. Now close your eyes and relax.

STEP 2

Now feel the tension in you ’solar plexus chakra’ or the ‘third chakra’ or in simple terms the ’stomach’. Place your one hand just above the stomach or over the chakra.

STEP 3

Now place your other hand just below the first one. Thus it should fall on the stomach and just below the solar plexus chakra.

STEP 4

Now all you need to do is relax your hands and fingers. Let your mind rest or drift, as it wants to.

STEP 5

Stay in this position for 10 – 15 minutes. You might even drift into a semi sleep state. Open your eyes slowly and stretch yourself.

When you get up you will feel full of energy and revitalized. You can now go ahead with your work with new found zeal and energy.

FOR BETTER SLEEP

If you have problems sleeping, then this is an ideal self-help exercise for you.

STEP 1

Whether it is your afternoon siesta or night sleep lie down on your back or on your side whichever is comfortable.

STEP 2

Now place one hand on your forehead and one on your stomach. Feel yourself breathing in and out. Notice your stomach rise up and go down, swelling up with your breath and then emptying.

STEP 3

Stay in this position for at least 10 minutes and more if you wish to. You will soon find yourself drifting off to a deep sleep with a relaxed feeling.

If you do this exercise regularly, you will find that it is very effective in helping you get a good night’s sleep. So take some time out and make these exercises a part of your daily routine.

Reiki Attunements

Author: Sol Danmeri Reiki TEacher

A Reiki attunement is the process of opening yourself and your senses to welcome the ancient practice of Reiki. Every individual has the power to heal her or his own self or added person through the application of energy. Reiki follows a methodology already alive in all of us. However, not everybody is nurturing this gift.

This is how a Reiki attunement helps. A Reiki attunement opens the gate towards the path that aligns the human organism to the central source of Universal Life Energy.

A Reiki attunement can only be performed with a Reiki master. This process can’t be learned on your own, as there are many concepts to know and many techniques to practice. Reiki Masters can teach their students how access the Reiki system using the correct channels. A Reiki Attunement, can be a truly life-changing experience.

Generally, Reiki attunement can raise one’s overall vibration. It can bring about a healing experience to individuals, especially those who are suffering from emotional distress. You can expect a Reiki attunement session to establish a radical change in the way you think, eat, work, and interact with others.

However, all of these changes are attained only by choosing a dedicated Reiki master. A Reiki attunement can be either in person or received at a distance. If you wish to undergo long distance Reiki attunement, you need to consult with an expert Reiki practitioner for assistance.

Why is Reiki Attunement Necessary?

Without receiving a Reiki attunement, it is impossible for a person to become a Reiki practitioner. In its general form, this procedure is a spiritual ceremony that introduces you to the symbols of Reiki and all of their meanings. In an attunement, energy patterns are introduced around the student’s aura or bio-electric magnetic field. These patterns are attuned to the Universal Energy of Life. To achieve all of these, the Reiki master has to tap into the student’s subconscious mind and apply all of the required symbols.

A Closer Observation

Reiki attunement comes in 3 Levels.

1. Reiki Level 1 attunement, your energy will allow you to radiate energy flow out of your hands.

2. Reiki Level 2 attunement will teach you the Reiki symbols in order to empower the movement of this energy. Once learned, you will have the ability to send Reiki over time and space. You will also have the power to heal both mental and emotional problems.

3. Reiki Level 3 attunement is when you reach the Master Level. In this degree, you have control over many more Reiki symbols. More importantly, you can perform the sacred Reiki attunement ceremony on others at this level.

Reiki requires attunement because it is its own process of initiation. It is impossible to have access to Reiki through simple meditation and intellectual exercises by itself. You will need to know how to open your crown chakra to let the Reiki energy in, and then allow it to pass through you. Without proper training, or if you have failed to go through the attunement process, it is impossible to complete even the level 1Reiki training.

A Christian View of Reiki

Author: Michael Golzmane

“Jesus came down the mountain with the cheers of the crowd still ringing in his ears. Then a leper appeared and went to his knees before Jesus, praying, “Master, if you want to, you can heal my body.” Jesus reached out and touched him, saying, “I want to. Be clean.” Then and there, all signs of the leprosy were gone. Jesus said, “Don’t talk about this all over town. Just quietly present your healed body to the priest, along with the appropriate expressions of thanks to God. Your cleansed and grateful life, not your words, will bear witness to what I have done.”

Matthew 8:2-4 (The Message)

Is such healing the stuff of mere Biblical history, performed once and only by Jesus himself, some 2000 years ago? Or is healing (even dramatic healing like in the Bible verse quoted above) meant for us today?

Many Christians are hearing about a healing technique called “Reiki”. But what is a Christian view of Reiki?

As a Christian, I believe that the healing power of God–the healing power of Jesus–isn’t simply historic in nature, meant to be a mere “belief”–or an ancient tale to be retold in church on Sundays.

The same power that Jesus used to perform his miracles, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to us today, and not just “in theory”, or “in principle”–not even “in belief”–but for real. This healing power is available to us in its fullness right now, right here, and right where we are–if we but know how to “tune in” to it and get “in the flow” of it.

One of the great challenges Christians find in accepting the possibility of radical healing (especially “energy healing” technologies like Reiki) is many think that if they actively participate in bringing about the healing of body, mind, or spirit, that this fact alone will tarnish the image of Jesus, and will “dumb him down” to being merely a human being with “some healing powers”.

On the other side of the equation, a Christian view of Reiki (or other energy healing techniques, possibly including acupuncture, acupressure, and chiropractic) may include the belief that one who practices it or participates in it is eliminating the need for Jesus, and is creating a secular theology where God and Jesus are no longer necessary. Sometimes this erroneous belief is expressed as “I can just go ahead and do this healing myself, and I guess I don’t really need God anymore to work through me.”

But, participating in your healing is quite different (in my opinion) than being the Originator and Chief Cause of your healing. God can never be replaced, as God is the Source of all healing. Trying to heal yourself without acknowledging and connecting with your Source is like trying to operate a car with an empty tank of gas–you won’t get very far.

However, when we take a Christian view of Reiki (or other energy healing techniques) and learn some of the methods through which God’s healing Grace can come to us, we become “not merely hearers of the Word, but doers” (James 1:23).

Imagine continuously praying to God to heal you of obesity, not realizing that God, in His infinite wisdom, has inspired some of the great books, DVDs, motivational audio, personal coaching programs, and teachers around the world to supply you with all the information you need about healthy diet, exercise, and detoxification. (We merely need to clear the channel of our own consciousness in order to be able to “let in” the presence of the healing answers we are looking for.)

But even more than this, God Himself is also always personally available to you as the Inner Voice, Inner Presence, and the deep inner joyful experience of love, peace, and harmony that characterize the experience of communion with God’s Holy Healing Spirit. Merely being still and “knowing that I am God” (Psalm 46:10), and relaxing into the deep well of God’s Loving Presence can often be enough to bring about the change in consciousness necessary for total personal healing.

In a sense, we are partnering with God to help bring about healing. God cannot bring about an end to world hunger, for instance, until we become loving and compassionate enough ourselves (through prayer, meditation, study, service, fellowship, and other ministries) to become a conscious “channel” for God’s grace to flow.

A Christian view of Reiki thus can include the idea that one of the main purposes of hands-on healing is to help us “clear the channel” of our perceptions so that we may more fully hear, feel, know, and realize the Truth of God’s Presence and God’s Will. When we are in harmony with the Divine in this way, healing can more easily flow to us and through us, out into the world.

Becoming a conscious place for healing to flow really strikes at the heart of what a Christian view of Reiki is all about. Though “energy healing” can seem weird and new-agey to some Christians at first (probably because this type of healing is still not very commonly practiced in the Christian community), I believe that it is one of the many ways Christians can further the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth.
